Woodstock Film Festival Presents OUR IDIOT BROTHER with PAUL RUDD

OUR IDIOT BROTHER featuring a Q&A and Reception with star PAUL RUDD

THE WOODSTOCK FILM FESTIVAL presents
OUR IDIOT BROTHER featuring a Q&A and Reception with star PAUL RUDD

March 19, 2012 (WOODSTOCK, NY): The Woodstock Film Festival is thrilled to announce a special one-time screening of the hit comedy Our Idiot Brother courtesy of the Weinstein Company and Big Beach Films. The screening will take place on May 5, 2012, 3 p.m. at Upstate Films in Woodstock. The event will feature a Q&A and reception with star Paul Rudd, producer and WFF founding Advisory Board Member Peter Saraf, and Director Jesse Peretz.

Released in August of 2011 and shot in Cold Spring, NY, Our Idiot Brother tells the story of Ned, a carefree organic vegetable farmer and lover of Willie Nelson, his loyal dog, who becomes entangled in his sisters’ chaotic lives. The film stars Paul Rudd (The 40 Year-Old Virgin) as Ned and features all-star female castmates Zooey Deschanel, Elizabeth Banks and Emily Mortimer as his sisters.

The story was born out of an idea by Director Jesse Peretz (The Ex) and written by his sister Evgenia and her husband David Schisgall with Rudd in mind.

“This motion picture was conceived, planned and made with the spirit of Woodstock in our hearts, minds and souls,” commented Producer Peter Saraf (Little Miss Sunshine). “I can only imagine that Ned Rochlin, Paul Rudd’s character in the movie, would want to say ‘Feliz Navidad’ to all of Woodstock on Cinco De Mayo. By the time Ned gets to Woodstock, may the festival be half a million stronger.”

“We are thrilled to host Paul, Peter and Jesse and their film Our Idiot Brother,” WFF Co-Founder and Executive Director Meira Blaustein said. “Ever since it premiered in sundance in 2010, I knew we had to have a special screening here in Woodstock. Paul Rudd is delightfully hilarious in the film. I can’t thank Peter Saraf enough for bringing the film, star and director to us. I know our audience will love it!”

General Admission tickets for the screening and the Q&A will be $25. A select number of $50 tickets will also include a reception at Oriole 9 in Woodstock. Paul Rudd, producer Peter Saraf, and director Jesse Peretz will all be in attendance.

About OUR IDIOT BROTHER
Every family has one: the sibling who is always just a little bit behind the curve when it comes to getting his life together. For sisters Liz (Emily Mortimer), Miranda (Elizabeth Banks) and Natalie (Zooey Deschanel), that person is their perennially upbeat brother Ned (Paul Rudd), an erstwhile organic farmer whose willingness to rely on the honesty of mankind is a less-than-optimum strategy for a tidy, trouble-free existence. Ned may be utterly lacking in common sense, but he is their brother and so, after his girlfriend dumps him and boots him off the farm, his sisters once again come to his rescue. As Liz, Miranda and Natalie each take a turn at housing Ned, their brother’s unfailing commitment to honesty creates more than a few messes in their comfortable routines. But as each of their lives begins to unravel, Ned’s family comes to realize that maybe, in believing and trusting the people around him; Ned isn’t such an idiot after all.

The Korean Film Night Special screening: ‘Meet Mr. Daddy’ + Q&A with Director Park Kwang-su on 29 March 2012

March 19, 2012 in News

Hello,

This is Jeehyun Kwon, London Korean Film Festival coordinator.

I am writing in regards to 2012 ‘Korean Film Night’ which hosts a special screening followed by Q&A every month.

On 29th March 2012, 6:30pm at Apollo Piccadilly, director Park will attend the screening of ‘Meet Mr. Daddy’ as well as a Q+A with the audience hosted by Dr. Mark Morris after the screening.

Park Kwang-su was a leading figure in the emergence of the new, politically charged, aesthetically daring Korean cinema of the 1990s.

Park Kwang-su founded the Seoul Film Group which had links to the student protests that came to define the era before helping to establish the Busan International Film Festival as well as leading the Busan Film Commission.  In between all of which Park Kwang-su created a body of cinematic work that made him a role model for the many young Korean film directors who have followed along the path that he forged for them.

Meet Mr. Daddy (2007 Drama) Meet Mr. Daddy won the Young Audiences Award at the 2007 Rome Film Festival. Director PARK Kwang-su’s drama revolves around a selfish man – played by PARK Shin-yang – who finds out that he has a young daughter. Because it’s financially beneficial, he decides to keep her. Later he finds out that the girl suffers from a serious disease.

mr daddy

I believe that it will be an amazing opportunity for film makers to learn more about each director’s work and to meet them in person after a screening.

‘The Korean Film Night: Year of the 12 Directors’ opens the door to a world of Korean film.

Throughout 2012, the Korean Film Night will dedicate a month of the year to a Korean director, screening 4 of their films (Director Im Kwon-taek’s retrospective will include 15 of his films), with a total of 59 films. The final week of the month will culminate in a screening of the directors’ film in a cinema in London’s city centre, providing an opportunity to maximise audience involvement and participation.

Director Lee Myung-se kicked off this special programme with the film ‘The Dualist’ at london’s Apollo Cinema, Piccadilly on Thursday 26th January 2012.

This special screening received a very positive response from the audience which included also included K-pop fans, professional film critics and bloggers and representatives from the BBC.

It will be greatly appreciated if you can let us to post information about 2012 Korean Film Nights on your website or pass this information to your subscribers.

Please contact me if you have any inquiries.

best wishes,
